User Manual: Settings & System Configuration

The Settings menu is where you configure the device's behavior, display, and power management. It allows you to tailor the Pixl.js to your specific needs.

1. Display & Interface

• Backlight / Contrast:

  • Adjusts the brightness for LCD screens or the contrast for OLED screens.

  • Tip: Lowering this can help extend battery life.

• Menu Animation:

  • Enable/Disable: Controls the scrolling animation for menu items that are too long to fit on the screen.

  • Note: Enabling animations slightly increases battery consumption.

• App Management:

  • Customize your Main Menu by showing or hiding specific applications. If you don't use the "Card Emulator" or "AmiiboLink," you can hide them here for a cleaner interface.

2. Power Management

• Fast Wakeup (Fast Resume):

  • Enabled: The device enters a "hibernation" mode instead of fully turning off. This allows for a much quicker startup and resumes exactly where you left off.

  • Disabled: The device fully shuts down. Startup takes about 1 second longer and always boots to the Main Menu.

• Sleep Timeout:

  • Sets the duration of inactivity before the device automatically goes to sleep to save power.

• LiPO Battery:

  • Enable ONLY if you have done a hardware mod.

  • If you are using a standard CR2032 coin battery, keep this OFF.

  • If you have modified your device to use a rechargeable LiPo battery, turn this ON to get accurate battery level readings and charging indicators.

• Go Sleep:

  • Manually forces the device into sleep mode immediately.

3. System Information & Maintenance

• Memory Used:

  • Displays the percentage of internal storage currently used by your Amiibo and file library.

• External Storage:

  • View the status and usage details of your external storage (if equipped).

  • Includes an option to Format the storage (Warning: This erases all data!).

• Firmware Update:

  • Puts the device into DFU Mode (Device Firmware Update).

  • Use this when you want to update the device software via the web updater tool.

• System Reboot:

  • Restarts the device software. This is useful if the system freezes or behaves erratically, acting as a soft reset without needing to remove the battery.

• Reset Default Settings:

  • Wipes all your custom configuration settings and returns them to the factory defaults. (Does not delete your Amiibo files).

• About Device:

  • Displays project information, source code repository links, and license details.

💡 Quick Tip: Language Settings

To change the system language, look for the Language option (usually at the very top of the Settings menu) and toggle it to your preferred language.
